Joe is a recent Politics graduate from the University of Sussex and has always been passionate about people and society. He wrote two dissertations for his final year project on the contested topics of the rise of “The MAGA Movement” and Trump support in the Biden era, as well as an analysis of the newly emerging electoral map in post-Brexit Britain.
Joe has experience in a number of various job roles alongside his studies including mentoring on the National Citizen Service and working in the hospitality/events sector. He hopes the diverse nature of the roles he has undertaken in the past will be an asset in working with a wide range of clients on the Catalyst Team.
During his time at university Joe was very actively involved with student politics and societies, sitting on numerous SU committees and as President of the Sussex Live Music Society (SLiM). Alongside working on the Catalyst Team, Joe endeavors to continue to launch and grow his own startup. This was inspired by his time running SLiM, aptly named Big Slim Promotions Ltd, the startup aims to reclaim Sussex’s radical past as a cultural hub for live music events.
Music is also very much Joe’s way to relax, as he enjoys frequenting live music events in Brighton (not always organised by himself) and writing/performing his own songs and covers.
Joe is looking forward to working on a variety of different projects with the Catalyst Team this year. He hopes to be involved in supporting the Startup Sussex program in which he was a part of previously, which led him to discover Catalyst. Joe is incredibly excited to be a part of the Sussex Innovation community and can’t wait to see the opportunities that this year will bring!
